Do you want to be your own boss?

Are you female, looking for work, and would you consider being your own boss?

As part of a new inititive by the Enterprise Europe Network in Galway Chamber of Commerce, all women who are either students or are currently looking for work are asked to complete an on-line survey to enable the network to better understand women’s view of self-employment.

At present more than twice as many men as women in Ireland start their own business, and the Enterprise Europe Network in Galway Chamber of Commerce would like to see more women considering this as a career option.

A total of 10 business women from Ireland have been nominated to an EU panel of ambassadors for female entrepreneurship, each of whom has excelled and made her mark in business.

The Ambassador’s mission is to be a role model and to promote entrepreneurship amongst women by engaging and encouraging females of all ages to fully use their skills, talents and ambition to become entrepreneurs.

For many reasons including childcare issues, lack of confidence, and perception of value, fewer Irish women choose to become entrepeneurs.

The Enterprise Europe Network is now inviting all women who are either students or are currently looking for work to take three minutes to complete an online survey. The purpose of the survey is to better understand whether or not women see being self employed as a potential career option, and if not, why not.
