Compántas Lir drama group will warm up for their appearance in next week’s All-Ireland drama finals in Glenamaddy by staging two extra performances of their multi-awardwinning play I Do Not Like Thee, Dr Fell.
The play will be staged in the Carnmore Community Centre on Sunday next April 18 at 8pm, with admission €10/€5. The following night Monday. April 19, it will be staged at the Town Hall in Gort. Tickets are available from 086 8225085.
These will be the last performances prior to the group’s appearance in the All-Ireland Confined Drama Finals next Tuesday 20 at 8pm.in Glenamaddy. Tickets for the All-Ireland final appearance may be booked at 0862045896.
The cast of Dr Fell, which has already won a hoard of acting prizes so far this year, features Ruth O’Driscoll as the therapist Suzy, Dermot Hession as Joe, and Paddy Greaney, Vincent Moran, John Heneghan, Mary McCarthy, and Liz Hession making up the remainder of the troupe.
The play, written by Bernard Farrell, and directed for Compántas by Philip Cribbin, is a black comedy that deals with the happenings at an all-night group encounter where Suzy, the American group co-ordinator, and her clients spend the night, in her own words, “in search of inner knowledge, of ourselves, and of others.”
The group, who missed the confined title by just two points when they finished second in last year's finals, secured their place in the All-Ireland by winning five drama festivals.
They are joined in the finals by the Dunmore drama group DADS who will also stage a Bernard Farrell play, The Last Apache Reunion.
