Grants for works to prevent flooding in Corrandulla /Caherlistrane area

Major grants have been awarded to the Corrandulla and Caherlistrane areas so that important works can be carried out on the local infrastructure.

A total of €16,200 has been allocated for Turloughgarve, Corrandulla, to install a culvert and construct a new drain. A grant of €115,000 has been allocated for improvements to the Corrib/Clare Arterial Drainage System in Feeragh/Caherlistrane.

Both areas were badly affected by the extensive flooding last winter. As a result Fianna Fáil councillor Mary Hoade contacted the Department of the Environment and called for such measures to be introduced into the region.

Cllr Hoade has now called on the OPW and the Galway County Council to carry out the works soon so as to prevent further flooding in the area.
