St Patrick’s Brass Band to perform in RNLI fundraiser

St Patrick's Brass Band will perform this weekend in a fundraising concert for Galway RNLI Lifeboat.

The concert will take place in the band room beside Ceannt Station at 5pm on Sunday. The event will feature renowned euphonium soloist Gary Curtin, originally from Cork and now based in Manchester where he holds the position of solo euphoniumist with the world famous Wingates Band. Curtin is in constant demand around the UK as a performer and teacher. This will be his second visit to Galway where last year he stunned audiences with his beautiful tone and quicksilver virtuosity.

Curtin is working in a series of masterclasses with St Patrick’s which will culminate in the concert on Sunday evening in aid of the RNLI. The band under their musical director Michael Dooley promise to delight the audience with their usual wonderful programmes featuring the music of George Gershwin, Barbra Streisand, and music from the operas as well as accompanying Curtin in the wonderful arrangement of ‘The Coulin’.

The RNLI charity saves lives at sea. Its volunteers provide a 24-hour search and rescue service around the Ireland and the UK. The RNLI operates more than 230 lifeboat stations with 43 in Ireland.
