New salmon feed plant to create thirty jobs in Tuam

A company specialising in the production of organic salmon feed is set to create up to 30 jobs at its new plant in Tuam.

Ocean Harvest Technology announced earlier this week that it will open a new production facility at the N17 Industrial Park in June bringing with it an increase in local employment.

The new seaweed-based compound that Ocean Harvest Technology has designed is expected to replace existing synthetic salmon feeds and revolutionise the farmed salmon industry.

OceanFeed is a proprietary blend of seaweeds sourced from around the world, with some of the most important elements harvested exclusively off the Irish coast. The new feed will enable the production of the world’s first organically raised farmed salmon.

The product will be exported to the world’s leading fish farming centres in Scotland, Norway, and Chile.
