City businesswoman Judy Greene is spearheading an initiative aimed at encouraging more women to go into business.
One of 10 women in Ireland appointed by the European Commission, under the auspices of the Galway Chamber of Commerce, as an ambassador for female entrepreneurship, she will introduce a different artist /craftsperson at her shop in Kirwan’s Lane (off Quay Street /Cross Street ) starting on Saturday. This will continue monthly throughout the year.
The role of the ambassador is to encourage more women to go into business - throughout Europe their numbers are low.
Anna Nielsen, well known for her limited edition prints in black and white silhouettes, will be Judy Greene’s guest this week. She will draw in the shop from 10.30am until 4pm and will answer any questions or queries from the public.
She has exhibited throughout Ireland and Europe and her work has been commissioned by dignitaries and celebrities alike. She is described as a “wonderful ambassador for women in business, full of energy and an inspiration for anyone thinking of starting out in business”.
Judy showcases a large variety of Irish artists/craft people in her shop/gallery of whom a large proportion are women.
