Gardaí probe city centre assaults

Gardaí have appealed for information following two brutal assaults in the city in the past week.

A young man sustained serious facial injuries in the first assault, which occurred in Eyre Square in the early hours of Thursday March 25. The man was attacked by another man on the street between Hibernian House and Kennedy’s Bar. His assailant is described as in his early twenties with dark hair. He was wearing a blue hoodie at the time of the assault.

In the second incident a young man was subjected to an unprovoked attack on the Headford Road in the early hours of Friday March 26. The man was walking home at around 2am when he was approached by three men close to the junction of Bóthar na mBan and the Headford Road. One of these men then assaulted him.

The culprit is described as six feet tall, unshaven, with short, dark hair. He spoke with an Irish accent and he wore a black and white striped jumper. One of his companions had fair hair.
