The return of The Butterfly Explosion

THE BUTTERFLY Explosion, just back from playing SXSW in Texas, undertake a tour of Ireland this month to promote their long awaited debut album Lost Trails.

The Dublin quintet play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Friday April 9 at 9pm, where they will perform songs from the new album.

Although only out since March, Lost Trails has caused quite a stir among indie fans and music critics. In the first week of the month, the album had the 11th most US college radio adds on the CMJ New Additions Chart. It also reached No 21 in the same period on US internet radio station 3wk.com

2FM’s Dan Hegarty said the band’s music was “like M83 meets My Bloody Valentine meets Sigur Ros in Heaven”. Thesilvertongueonline.com said Lost Trails “feels like a dream from which you never want to wake”, while Today FM Paul McLoone put it simply: “It’s absolutely brilliant.”

Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago. Gugai will be DJing afterwards.
