THE SONGS of the Thin White Duke will go head to head with those of new wave’s blonde bombshell when the Róisín Dubh hosts the Hoot Night for Haiti on Easter Sunday at 8pm.
Galway bands Disconnect 4, Blasterbra, Lost Chord, A Band Called Wanda, The Followers Of Otis, and others perform the songs of David Bowie and Blondie in their own way. What’s more all proceeds will be donated to relief efforts for the survivors of the Haiti earthquake.
The Hoot Night is the idea of Chicago musician, producer, and broadcaster Thomas Dunning, who has been hosting such events at the Hoot Nights in Chicago, Dublin, and Galway for the past 15 years. He gathers 12 bands, throws a theme at them and tells them, to show up with two songs ready to go. The results are fascinating and often hilarious!
The Hoot Night for Haiti is the first Hoot Night that is a charity fundraiser. Admission is €10.
