Republican Sinn Féin Easter Rising commemorations

Republican Sinn Féin will hold a series of commemorations throughout Co Galway to mark the 94th Anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising.

On Easter Sunday a commemoration will be held at the Liam Mellowes Statue in Eyre Square. This will be proceeded by a march from the cathedral to Eyre Square at 11am.

The main commemoration will take place at the Republican plot at Donoghpatrick Cemetery, Headford, on Easter Sunday at 3pm. Party members are asked to assemble at Queally’s Cross, Caherlistrane, at 2.30pm to march to Donoghpatrick Cemetery.

Wreath-laying ceremonies will also be held in Tuam on Good Friday at 5.30pm, with party members asked to assemble at the 1916 Memorial, opposite the cathedral; in Oughterard, Holy Saturday, at 7pm, at grave of volunteer Séamas Ó Máille; in Headford Easter Sunday 3pm.
