Dressing for occasions —Communion and confirmation

When it comes to dressing for Communions and confirmations, we can choose to be dressy or casual. Dresses are really big this season, and you will be able to wear them again for other occasions, so go for it.

For a classic look, go for a simple cut just above the knee. This beige and white dress from Tommy Hilfiger is perfect for this type of occasion. You can team it with a cropped jacket and high heels in a bright colour such as blue, and a matching necklace, or lose the jacket, replace it with either a trenchcoat or a short cardigan, and accessorise with a brooch and a bracelet. Because the colours in the dress are neutral, you can chose any colour shoes and accessories, from nudes such as taupe, or pastel pink, to a vibrant red or pink.

You won’t go wrong with a floral dress. Choose one in bright colours or more subtle shades, such as these two dresses from Great Plains, available in French Connection or Vilda Boutique. The coloured dress is great with minimum accessorises. Go for gold or nude colour shoes and team it with a navy or stone jacket. The other dress in cream with small brown and gold flowers will be best worn with a cardigan kept open and heels, or if you like your comfort, wedges.

For a stylish and comfortable look, go for that this beautiful black and white dress from Colette Latchford. Team it with pretty black heels and a black cardigan or jacket, and keep the accessories to a minimum. A nice pair of earring would be enough.

If you prefer a trouser/skirt look then Wallis in Anthony Ryans stocks a great cream jersey suit. Alternatively go for a linen jacket and skirt, which is guaranteed to keep you looking elegant through the day.
