Repair work is about to start on a number of roads which were used for haulage during construction of the new M6 motorway.
The Castlelambert Junction; The junction towards Castlelambert, as far as the new overbridge; 500 metres of the C&F Tooling road; and the 90 degree bend between the golf course and the school in Lisheenkyle will be tarred and chipped by the Galway County Council.
Independent councillor Jim Cuddy has welcomed the news.
“A lot of these roads got into a bad state of disrepair,” he said, “as they were being used for haulage during the construction of the new motorway. Local residents had to put up with very poor road conditions for many months.”
