The children who suffered at the Letterfrack Industrial School should not be forgotten and Seanad Éireann should hold a debate in Letterfrack to commemorate the victims of abuse.
This is the view of Galway Green senator Niall Ó Brolcháin who has called for a Seanad debate on child protection to take place at the site of the Letterfrack Industrial School.
“I have walked through Letterfrack, which is one of the most beautiful parts of this country,” he said, “and have experienced a great feeling of sadness at the graveyard there. It is an extraordinarily powerful place.”
Sen Niall Ó Brolcháin said there is “nothing more important than the protection of our children,” and that holding the debate in Letterfrack “will serve not only to remember and commemorate the victims, but also to send out a message that child protection is a serious matter.”
