An Oughterard woman who failed to appear before Galway District Court this week was convicted in her absence of motoring offences.
Garda Mick Lally gave evidence to stopping Laura de Haast, of Raha, Oughterard, at Bohermore on January 29 last. He said she failed to produce insurance or a driving licence to him on demand.
Noting Ms de Haast was not present in court, Judge Mary Fahy convicted and fined her €750 for driving without insurance and disqualified her from driving for 12 months.
She fined her €100 for failing to produce insurance and €100 for not having a driving licence.
