THE CONCERT Coirmcheoil Phádraig - the St Patrick’s Day Concert of Music, Poetry & Song of the Nation takes place in the St Patrick’s Band Hall, Fairgreen, this Sunday 14 at 8pm.
Produced by An Taibhdhearc, in association with the great Irish pianist and composer Tom Cullivan, the show will feature singers Hildegarde Naughton, Sandra Schalks and Seosamh Ó Flaithearta, violinist Éamonn Rabbitte, and pianists Elena Gekker and Tom Cullivan.
The programme will consist of songs by Balfe, Moore, and Wallace, and instrumental works by O’Catháin, O’Carolan, and Cullivan. In addition, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Máirtín Ó Direáin will be commemorated by the recitation of his poems by actor Séamus Ó hAodha.
