The two men accused of attempting to rob a post office in Connemara over four months ago have been sent forward for trial.
Michael Huston (44 ) Luí Na Gréine, Western Distributer Road, and Quintas Smith (30 ) of no fixed abode were brought in custody before Judge Mary Fahy at Galway District Court last Monday.
The two South African men are accused of allegedly conspiring together to rob Indreabhan Post Office on November 11, 2009. They are also charged with having an imitation firearm, and the possession of a knife, gloves, and balaclava with intent to carry out a robbery.
Detective Garda Mick Staunton informed the court that the books of evidence had been served on the two accused men.
Inspector Pat McHugh then said that the DPP had consented to both accused men being sent forward for trial.
Judge Fahy ordered that the men be sent forward for trial at the next sitting of Galway Circuit Criminal Court commencing April 27. She then remanded the two men in custody with consent to bail as set by the High Court.
