IRISH SKETCHBOOK, a new exhibition by the English artist Barry Herniman, will open in The Kenny Bookshop and Gallery in Liosbán this Saturday at 2pm.
The exhibition features Barry’s watercolour sketches and notebook depictions from his travels around the country.
“Nothing can quite match the excitement and wonder of wet and vibrant watercolours mixing and mingling on the paper,” he says. “This allows me to get that lovely luminous ‘glow’ which to me is so much a part of the whole spirit of watercolour.”
Over the years Barry has received many positive comments about his sketches, so because of this feedback, he has produced a series of paintings in his ‘sketchbook style’ together with ‘diary’ notes which give a sense of time and place.
