IT JUST would not be Seachtain na Gaeilge without plenty of Irish trad music gigs and sessions due to take place in Club Áras na nGael on Dominick Street.
Seachtain na Gaeilge runs from March 5 to 17 and musicwise it all kicks off on Saturday at 9pm with Seosamh Ó Fatharta, Sadbh Ní Fhatharta, Mike Ó hÉanaigh and friends performing at their weekly An Satharn sa Chlub session.
Cumann Drámaíochta from NUI Galway will be having a ceilí mór on Wednesday 10 and those going along are encouraged to put on their dancing shoes for this traditional shindig.
On Saturday 13, the cream of the country’s musicians will gather for a celebration of Subhóró - a compilation CD created by an array of musicians in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin.
NUI, Galway is getting a head start on its St Patrick’s Day celebrations on Monday 15 in the company of Lillis Uí Laoire, the Acadamh na hOllscoile musicians, and the Irish rapper Bubba Shakespeare. A collection will be made on the night with all proceeds going to Haiti.
And last but not least, don’t miss out on the St Patrick’s Day celebrations with lively traditional sessions all day in Club Áras na nGael.
