Rith 2010, the 1,600km relay run around Ireland, involving thousands running “ar son na Gaeilge” with the specially designed baton, holding a secret message from the President of Ireland, is coming to Galway next week.
On Monday March 15, the runners will begin the Gort to Loughrea leg, leaving Gort at c1.43pm and arriving in Loughrea at c4.32pm. From there they will go to Athenry, arriving there at c6.52pm.
The runners will then make their way to Oranmore to arrive at 8.45pm. There they will take a well earned break with some ‘ceol agus craic’ in the bar of Vitae’s Health and Fitness Club.
On Tuesday March 16 the runners will go from Leenane to Maum, leaving Leenane to arrive in Maum at c5.42pm. From there they will go to Maam Cross to arrive at c6.34pm, and from there to Ros Muc, to arrive at 8.40pm.
On St Patrick’s Day the runners will leave An Cheathrú Rua at 8am to make their way to Galway city and arrive with the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Eyre Square at 1pm.
