Oranmore to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with seven day festival

St Patrick’s Day is not so much a day anymore as a festival celebrated over a series of days and Oranmore is no exception, as the town is set to make the national day into a week long festival.

Oranmore/Maree will hold its first Culture and Heritage Week from Wednesday March 10 to Wednesday 17.

Incorporating Seachtain Na Gaeilge, the Oranmore festival promises a wide and varied programme of talks, guided walks, a heritage market, traditional music, sean-nós singing, and a dancing workshop culminating in the St Patrick’s Day parade.

On St Patrick’s night the Oranmore Lodge Hotel will come alive with the music of the Loughree Céilí Band for the first St Patrick’s Céilí Mór- Uarán Mór.

The parade theme will be ‘Back to the Future’ and St Patrick himself will drop by. The parade Grand Marshalls will be Aisling Ní Cuinn, Uzona Ovazi, Rachael Dalmeny, and Ekatherine Umbrasko
