Local planning consultant aims to demystify draft city plan

Galway people will have the opportunity to learn more about the draft Galway City Development Plan and how they can have an input into the future development of the city at a public discussion next week.

Local planning advisory company Planning Consultancy Services will host the event, entitled ‘Galway City Draft Development Plan – The Opportunity to Have Your Say’ next Wednesday at 6.30pm in Galway City Museum. Representatives from Galway’s leading architectural and property firms and business community will be given insights on this topic at the event.

James O’Donnell, managing director of Planning Consultancy Services, will open the event with a brief presentation on the key aspects of the draft plan and guidelines on considerations when assembling a written submission. Business people, landowners, and property professionals are invited to attend. While admission is free, places are limited and those attending are advised to register in advance by calling (086 ) 8113981 or emailing [email protected]

The draft plan, essentially a blueprint for the development of the city up to 2017, has been on public display since January 28 and will be open for a limited period for new submissions until April 21, during which time interested parties and members of the public can have their say in the process. Currently, the city council is encouraging people to have their say in the formulation of the plan by making a submission.

Planning Consultancy Services is providing a specialist service for written submissions on the Galway City Draft Development Plan. This ensures all relevant legislative, environmental, and planning considerations are used to support each submission. Initial consultation is free and fees for the preparation of a submission are competitive.
