French poet to read in the city

LEADING FRENCH poet Dominique Sorrente will read - in both French and English - for The Western Writers’ Centre at The Imperial Hotel, Eyre Square, on Wednesday at 8pm.

Sorrente was born in Nevers in 1953. In 1975 in Paris, he founded the journal Avalanche which he edited for four years with the novelist Michel Orcel. After studying political sciences and European studies in Paris and Bruges, he returned to Marseilles to devote himself to teaching.

Sorrente was elected laureate by the Marseilles Academy in 1983, and Guy Levis Mano laureate in 1984. He subsequently received several other literary prizes, including the Sainte-Victoire Prize in Aix-en-Provence.
