Rail passengers might soon be able to travel between Dublin and Galway in under two hours according to Green Party senator Niall Ó Brolcháin.
At a meeting with CIÉ chairman John Lynch, Sen Ó Brolcháin was informed that faster journey times between the two cities are to be introduced.
Sen Ó Brolcháin welcomed the news and said the move could also provide a “vital economic boost” to the west.
“This will be fantastic for the west as passengers will be able to travel to and from Galway in record time,” he said. “It will have a knock-on benefit for tourism and the local business community, as visitors and commuters will have the option of taking faster trains to and from the capital.”
