A grant of €20,000 to widen the junction at the narrow entrance into the Castle Park estate from the Castle Park Road has been approved under the 2010 Regional and Local Roads Grant Allocations.
The grant has been welcomed by Independent councillor Terry O’Flaherty who said the junction “has been a cause of great concern to the residents”. She made numerous representations over the last number of years to have this junction improved.
Also in the block grant a sum of €30,000 has been provided for the pedestrian crossing on the Renmore Road, which Cllr O’Flaherty said “will greatly improve safety for residents of the area”.
