Padraig Conneely to indulge his inner poet

While Labour TD Michael D Higgins is known as a very fine poet, the Mayor of Galway Cllr Padraig Conneely will be reciting verse and stanza for National Poetry Day.

National Poetry Day takes place today and will see Mayor Conneely, County Mayor Peter Feeney, and Dep Michael D Higgins, and others recite their favourite poems in the Galway Museum from 6pm to 8pm this evening.

The event is to mark the 30th anniversary of Poetry Ireland. Also reading at the event will be Louis de Paor, Joe Steve O’Neachtain, Michael O’Loughlin, Celeste Auge, Aoife Casby, John Walsh, and Ted Deppe.

Classical guitarist John Feeley and soprano Judith Mok will perform songs drawn from the works of Lorca and John Dowland. Admission to the event is free.
