Galway SUBWAY store celebrates top ten rating

Local businesswoman Lorna Fitzgerald had plenty of cause for celebration this week when the SUBWAY® store that she owns in Galway city was rated as one of the top 10 best run SUBWAY® stores in Ireland.

Ms Fitzgerald and her staff at the restaurant in the Planet Leisure Entertainment Centre in Galway Shopping Centre were delighted with the news that the store was rated at number 10 in the SUBWAY® chain’s prestigious ‘Store of the Year 2009’ awards having competed against 108 other stores in the Republic of Ireland.

All of the stores were inspected on a random basis each month and awarded scores for cleanliness, customer service, and overall operational performance. The stores were also visited each month by a mystery shopper who secretly evaluated the performance of staff working at each store from a customer’s perspective as well as the quality and presentation of the food that they were served.

Ms Fitzgerald’s achievement was all the more impressive when the monthly aggregate scores for 2009 were totted up with her SUBWAY® store in Galway scoring 97.70 out of 100 to secure a coveted top 10 rating.

“The standard required to get into the top 10 is very high and everyone working in the store had to be on top of their game month after month. Every store that achieved a top 10 rating this year scored 97 or higher and the difference between 10th place and first place was marginal. Great credit is due to everyone working at the store including Gosia Mizera who is the store manager, and the rest of the team.

“Good customer service is the key to a successful business. If the customer receives good service they will come back to you. Our customers enjoy our Subs and constantly tell us that our service is exceptional. That type of feedback is important. It motivates staff and it lets us know whether or not we are doing a good job,” said Ms Fitzgerald.
