Citroen Ireland open for business with new cars

Automobiles Citroen France has announced the creation of a new subsidiary in Ireland which will springboard the launch of a series of new models into the Irish market in the first quarter of this year.

The new company says it will herald a sales expansion with the key priorities of improving customer satisfaction and introducing the latest new models.

Citroen Motors Ireland is now operational and will shortly introduce the award winning C3 Picasso which was launched to critical acclaim in Europe, and the new C3, which will bring practicality, low CO2 emissions, and the unique panoramic Zenith windscreen.

Following hot on the heels of these important models will be the stylish and stunning looking DS3 which will bring even more French flair to the roads of Ireland.

Thierry Calewaert, the new managing director of Citroën Motors Ireland, says: “We are delighted to be investing in the important Irish market and bringing these exciting new models into the country. Customers can be assured we are committed to improving customer service and enhancing the dealer network.”

Citroen sponsors rally championship

Citroen Motors Ireland may not be long in business, but it is well in already with the title sponsorship of the 2010 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship (ITRC ), which kicked off at the Galway International Rally.

The six ITRC events also make up the rounds of the Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland, which has received entries from 11 Citroen C2-R2 Max rally cars, four C2-R2s, and one C2 Super 1600.

With the largest prize fund in Irish rallying history up for grabs, the Citroen Racing Trophy Ireland provides C2-R2 Max drivers with total potential prize money of €19,500 on each of the six rounds.

A Citroen spokesman commented: "It is well known that the Irish are keen supporters of rallying and Citroen is proud to be sponsoring the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship.”

Don Wilmont, Citroën Irish Tarmac Rally Championship manager, said: “On behalf of the Tarmac Rally Organisers Association, we very much welcome Citroen on board as title sponsor of the 2010 Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. Having a partnership with a strong brand such as Citroen, which has been so dominant at the top of the FIA World Rally Championship, will not only enhance the profile of the championship, but also the profile of each of the individual events.”
