Emmet Scanlon and What The Good Thought to help Haiti

GALWAY SINGER-songwriter Emmet Scanlon is going to Haiti to help the Haven charity’s work in building houses for the earthquake stricken island.

Before he goes, Emmet, leader of the band What The Good Thought, has organised the Send Your Love to Haiti Fundraising Weekend which will take place in Tigh Neachtains, Cross Street.

Emmet will travel to Haiti in April with the Haven Foundation to take part in Build It Week, where he and the other volunteers will build homes for the world’s poorest people.

All proceeds raised from the Send Your Love to Haiti weekend will go directly to the Haven foundation, enabling them to buy the crucial building materials needed for the week and transport the team of volunteers to Haiti.

To raise funds for the work, Emmet has organised a cake sale and coffee morning in Tigh Neachtains on Saturday. Home-made chocolate fudge cake, caramel squares, and strawberry shortcake will be available for a small donation, as will ‘take-away’ Valentine’s Love Cupcakes and Rocky Road Chunks.

On Valentine’s night in Neachtains, there will be a concert featuring Emmet Scanlon and What The Good Thought, Mad Uncle Harry, and Scandinavian folk group Café Minor, starting at 7.30pm.

There will also be a raffle. Prizes including a de luxe wine hamper from Woodberry’s, a dinner for two voucher for Oscar’s Bistro and Artisan, and a full body massage from Heaven Scent. Tickets are €5 and can be bought in Neachtains.
