Do public spaces really provide space for people to enjoy the city, to relax, to meet, and to hold events, or are such places not living up to their full potential?
These are just some of the issues that will be discussed at the next instalment of the Dock Discourse talks in the Galway Arts Centre in Dominick Street.
The next meeting, entitled Genius loci -Place: Location/Public/Art, takes place this evening in the arts centre at 6.30pm. The speakers will be visual artist Michelle Browne and NUI, Galway’s Pat Collins. The chair will be the architect and Dock Discourse curator Aoife Considine.
The event is to bring together artists, academics, and writers to explore the role of place, location and the environment. Particular interest will be in looking at Galway city and the west of Ireland.
Admission is free and no booking is necessary. See www.dockdiscourse.com
