The comfortable way to eliminate unwanted body hair

The array of laser technology throughout the world has been nothing short of miraculous, and over the past 20 years this field has continued to grow and expand with the continuing appearance of new technology.

Today, a basic understanding of laser physics is fundamental to good laser treatment and laser safety, and minimising risk to patients is essential. In facial aesthetics, we can now choose from an array of lasers designed to treat vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, acne, tattoos, unwanted, excessive, or ingrown hair, and ablative and non ablative skin resurfacing.

Diode laser systems are medically accepted as the gold standard of laser hair removal, and their advantages are many including good laser light penetration to the hair follicle, less disruption to surface skin, safer to use even on darker skin, and relatively quick. However like all other lasers, the laser procedure involved significant discomfort. A new breakthrough in how diode laser energy is delivered to the hair follicle has now evolved and an ‘in motion’ delivery system has now allowed this gold standard technology to be performed with minimal discomfort. The ‘in motion’ diode laser system known as Soprano is now available at Body Benefits Medical Laser & Skincare Clinic, The Cornstore, St Augustine Street, Galway. Unlike any other laser, Soprano no longer delivers a pulse of laser into a selected spot; instead the laser handpiece is constantly moving and gently heats the treatment area by gradually delivering the packet of energy required to cause destruction to the growth cells of the hair.

In simple terms, this laser uses the best wavelength to penetrate to the root of the hair, with minimal disruption to the skin, using a gentle heating action. For anyone who has ever had laser or IPL hair removal, it is a gift from heaven, and it is positively painless by comparison to all other systems, meaning you can enjoy full leg treatments and designer bikini lines without having to grit your teeth and tough it out.

Many laser and IPL systems have been available at Body Benefits over the past 15 years, and in the area of hair removal alone the company currently offers Q-switched Nd-Yag laser, IPL flashlamp system, gold standard diode laser, and the new Soprano gold standard diode ‘in motion’ laser.
