Flamenco classes restarting soon in Galway

FLAMENCO DANCER Fatima Lucia will begin a new term of flamenco dance classes on Tuesday January 19 in Áras na nGael, 45 Dominick Street at 7pm.

Flamenco is an old tradition from southern Spain forged from the Islamic, Jewish, and Christian music and dance traditions of the region. Flamenco dance is a complete exercise and a fun way to get fit. It exercises the whole body and improves posture, balance, co-ordination, concentration, and sense of rhythm.

Fatima, from Cadiz in Andalusia, has been teaching flamenco since 1993 and has toured Ireland with her own company Al-Andar. She has toured with Mairtín O’Connor, Arty McGlynn and Sean Keane, and appeared as solo flamenco dancer in Sean Keane’s DVD The Irish Scattering.
