Animation, writing, documentary making and how to make a short film are just some of the courses being run as part of the Galway Film Centre’s Spring/Summer workshops.
The courses generally run at weekends and are held in Cluain Mhuire. The first begins on Saturday February 6 with a one weekend workshop looking at how to find funding to make films and TV series. It is tutored by Edwina Forkin, whose short, New Boy, was nominated for an Oscar.
That weekend, the two weekend course in Make-Up for Film and TV also begins. This practical course is tutored by Roisín Derrane, who has worked on campaigns for Guinness and The Body Shop, as well as on the feature films King Arthur and Intermission.
A day long workshop to develop screenwriting and dialogue skills in a group will be tutored by David Keating on February 27. David has just completed Wake Wood, a Hammer horror feature in Donegal with Eva Birthistle (Breakfast On Pluto ) and Aiden Gillen (The Wire ).
There is also a documentary making course and a beginners’ filmmaking course, where participants make short films under the guidance of experienced filmmakers.
Class sizes are limited so early booking is advised. For more information see www.galwayfilmcentre.ie or contact Mary (091 - 770748 ) or [email protected]
