Children born between February 2 2005 and June 30 2006 are eligible for a free pre-school place (ECCE Scheme ) from January – June 2010.
Children should be enrolled at their local pre-school by the January 20 at the latest in order to avail of the free scheme. Parents will be asked to complete a declaration form and return it to their local pre-school by this date.
The free pre-school year in Early Childhood Care & Education (ECCE ) is designed to give children access to a year of programme-based activities in the year before they start primary school.
Mary Giblin, Coordinator, Galway City & County Childcare Committee says time is of the essence.
“Parents are advised to complete their declaration forms and return them to their chosen childcare facility as soon as possible if they wish their child to avail of the ECCE scheme this January.
