Criminal Assets Bureau permitted to sell Galway home

A Galway criminal has had the dubious honour of being the first person to have a Galway home seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau.

The house was one of four seized by the CAB in the High Court on Tuesday.

In a joint investigation with Galway detectives the CAB this week sought and obtained a freezing order and a disposal order under the Proceeds of Crime Act for the house, described as a newly built four-bedroom detached property in County Galway.

The house was the property of Patrick “Pa” Rabbitte, with an address at 190 Castle Park, Ballybane.

In a statement the bureau described Rabbitte as a drug dealer linked to a Dublin based gang. He has convictions for burglary, unauthorised taking, fraud, and under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
