Proof that you can still find fun in motoring can be seen in this new summer stunner, the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG.
Available from mid-year, this super sports tourer includes among its many features a gullwing doors’ design similar to those first featured in the legendary 300SL from the 1950s.
Its imposing body styling - with its long bonnet, muscular rear end and light alloy wheels - masks innovative cutting edge technology of which its lightweight aluminium spaceframe body with front-mounted mid-engine, and ultra-lightweight carbon-fibre driveshaft are examples.
Other race-bred motor sports features include an AMG speedshift double-clutch transmission and a transaxle design that ensures outstanding weight distribution between front and rear axles.
Powered by a 6.3-litre, 571bhp V8 engine that delivers 650Nm torque at 4,750rpm, the SLS has a top speed of 317km/h and a 0-100km/h time of 3.8 seconds.
Price will be announced close to launch date.
