New Year’s honours for Cases at wine awards

Galway’s Cases Wine Warehouse has been named the Best Wine Warehouse in Ireland in the annual Sunday Business Post Wine Awards announced this week.

Judged by renowned wine critic Tomas Clancy, these prestigious annual awards are recognised within the wine and spirit industry as the only independent wine awards in Ireland.

Mr. Clancy announced winners in nine different categories recognising “heroes of Irish wine- those who stand out in what is one of the most competitive and crowded markets in Ireland.”

Owned by Peter Boland, Cases Wine Warehouse took the overall wine warehouse award for its innovative value-added elements including its children’s play area and active wine tasting along with its strong selection of wines.

Up there with Ashford Castle as the only west of Ireland owned winners in the Sunday Business Post Annual Wine awards, Cases also received recognition for its recently developed wine website which offers an extensive range of wines for online purchase nationwide in Ireland.

Commenting on his win, Peter Boland said he was delighted to be honoured with this national award which is an endorsement of the quality of the offering at Cases Wine Warehouse.

“We are absolutely delighted with this award. We ended last year with a Bridgestone Award and it is a tremendous accolade for us to begin the new decade with recognition by one of Ireland’s top wine critics of the quality of the offering we are bringing to Galway consumers,” said Mr Boland who has more than ten years experience in the wines, beers, and spirits industry.

“As Ireland’s leading wine warehouse we are continually innovating and expanding our range of wines so that we can offer our customers better choice and considerably better value for money. Last year saw us expanding our range of imported French wines and we have just started to import the Lauca range of Chilean wines directly which has been getting a terrific response from our customers. 2010 will see us continue to offer something different and something better to our customers and we look forward to meeting both new and existing customers in person and online in the coming weeks,” concluded Mr. Boland.

Located on the Tuam Road Cases Wine Warehouse is open to the public seven days a week.

Cases Wine Warehouse employs a staff of five who are trained to the highest stand and certified by the Wine and Spirit Education Trust.
