Strike Anywhere to bring the Iron Front to Galway

STRIKE ANYWHERE, one of the most highly regarded melodic hardcore bands of all time, will being their Leftist charged, politically driven music to Róisín Dubh tomorrow at 7.30pm.

The band - Thomas Barnett (vocals ), Eric Kane (drums ), Matt Smith (guitar ), Mark Miller (guitar ), and Garth Petrie (bass ) - have been together 10 years and released four critically acclaimed albums, including their latest Iron Front.

Iron Front was recorded just outside Prague in the Czech Republic and the group felt it was appropriate that the album, given its title and themes, was made in Europe.

“It’s interesting because the LP title is a tribute and a homecoming of the Antifascist Circle’s creators and original activists,” said Thomas Barnett. “They were Europeans who were trying to combat the rise of fascism in Central Europe in the early decades of the last century.”

Musically, the album has, in Barnett’s words “soaring and organic anthemic highs and crunching, floor-shaking, lows.” The songs deal with human rights, war, politics, and police brutality backed by hardcore breakdowns and rhythms, dark melodic textures, and fast-paced punk songs.

This is an ‘Us Vs Them presents...’ show. Support is from Only Fumes & Corpses, Soldiers Take Half, Murdock, and Cut The Reins. Admission is €10. See www.myspace.com/usvsthemgalway and www.roisindubh.net
