1. Kieran Comer had a blinder
Last Sunday Comer looked the “Real-Deal”. He is in great shape, brimming with confidence, and notched 1-07 (6fs ). When your captain is in that kind of form, he is easy to follow. In 1998 Comer came on as a late substitute in the All-Ireland club final, now he is one game away from playing in one as club captain and team leader.
2. Charlestown were woeful
Charlestown produced a nightmare display. They were clueless in what they were trying to do and once they conceded the early goal, their game plan (if they had one ) went out the window. Their performance did not reflect well on the standard of club football in Mayo for 2009 and makes you wonder what John O’Mahony has to work with.
3. Corofin’s pace
The likes of Tony Goggins, Alan Burke, Gary Sice, Ciaran McGrath, Cathal Silke, Joe Canney, Shane Monaghan, and Ronan Steede are all lively on their pegs. When Corofin ran at the home side and did so with speed and purpose they ran them ragged. They scored 2-14, but 4-18 would not have been unrealistic.
