Goodnight Ballivor, a new documentary based on the book Goodnight Ballivor, I’ll Sleep In Trim, by John Quinn will be broadcast on TG4 on Sunday at 9.30pm.
In this new documentary by Hawkeye Films, produced and directed by Donal R Haughey, writer and broadcaster John Quinn goes on a journey through his memories, to the village of his youth, Ballivor, in Co Meath. For the first time in 55 years, John steps back into the near-derelict house in which he was born and memories of Radio Éireann, McLaughlin’s General Stores, traffic-free streets, being an altar boy, GAA heroes, and Ballivor’s own Cinema Paradiso.
With a local boy, Brendan McKeon, cast as the young John and film archives of the village, John’s journey is not so much to a place, but to the Ireland of the 1950s, an era long gone, but fondly remembered in this evocative and delightful journey.
