REGINA NATHAN, the internationally renowned Irish soprano, will be just one of the star performers at this year’s Croí Christmas Cabaret, which takes place in the Radisson Blu Hotel on Thursday next December 10.
Regina has appeared in opera at Madrid’s Teatro Real, Brussels’ La Monnaie, the Hamburg Staatsoper, Opera de Geneve, Luzern Stadttheater, Israeili Opera, Scottish Opera, Opera de Nice, Opera de Nantes, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Opera Zuid, Stadttheater Glessen, as well as Opera Ireland.
Her repertoire ranges from the title role in Cavalli’s La Calisto to the world-premiere of Mark Anthony Turnage’s The Country of the Blind. Regina has appeared as Carlisle Floyd’s Susannah, Moore’s Baby Doe, Gluck’s Euridice, Verdi’s Violetta, Bizet’s Leila, Offenbach’s Antonia, and Amelia in Verdi’s Un Ballo In Maschera.
Her recordings include Britten, Complete Folk Song Arrangements, Mahler’s Symphony No 8, and Ave Maria with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
The spacial guest on the night will be the singer, composer, and Roman Catholic priest Liam Lawton. There will also be performances from the Tribal Chamber Choir under director Mark Keane, the Guinness Jazz Band, harpist Annette Griffin, classic songs from crooner Keith McDonald, and Italian tenor Fabio Stara.
There will be dance displays from tango partnership Enrique and Marion, Paul Neary and Galway Swing Dancers, Dance Fusion Galway, and The Vaudeville Vamps.
The MC will be Daithí Ó Sé. The music director is Mark Keane and the show is produced, as always, by Mary A Cunningham.
Tickets are €25 from Zhivago, Shop Street. The cabaret will raise funds for Croí - The West of Ireland Cardiology Foundation, The Galway Hospice, and Irish Autism Action.
