Money Doctor to advise on personal finances

It's not about waiting for the storm to pass. It's about learning to dance in the rain — such is the advce given by John Lowe, financial advisor and author, who will share his wisdom on how to survive the recession by taking simple steps to transform personal finances on Wednesday December 2 at 7.00pm at the Radisson Hotel, Galway.

The talk is being hosted by Financial Solutions Skillnet, a Galway network of the financial services and the banking sector.

Mr Lowe who is one of Ireland’s leading personal finance gurus, will bring the audience on a journey through the A to Z of personal finance, including top tips on drawing up a budget plan, managing debts and keeping taxes down.

“In planning this year’s event, we were particularly taken by The Money Doctor’s approach which is simple, objective and effective”, said Nuala Martyn, network manager of Financial Solutions Skillnet.

“Mr Lowe has a genuine interest in telling people, in plain English, how to make their money work for them. The event will have particular appeal to financial brokers, bankers, and people running their own businesses, but the information on personal finance will be of interest to the general public also” she added.

Caroline Igoe, chairperson of Financial Solutions Skillnet and owner of C&I Financial Services in Gort added that financial planning and budgeting has never been as important as it is today. Advice from the Money Doctor will help people to reduce their living costs and maximise their savings and investments. Life insurance, health cover and pensions are areas of personal finance that people frequently ask me about and this event is designed to help people understand what they should have and what they should drop.

“The presentation lasts over an hour with a Q & A at the end and we aim to both keep it simple and entertainingly informative,” concluded Caroline Igoe.

Tickets cost €10 and the ticket price includes a free CD with financial fact sheets, budget templates and other personal finance information. They can be reserved in advance from Nuala Martyn, Network Manager, 091 764776, 087 6452082 [email protected], or collected at the door on the night.
