Volvo cuts prices, adds three-years warranty, and free upgrades

Volvo Ireland has cut prices and now is offering savings from €2,240 to €3,750 - and in one case a massive €11,000.

It has also announced that all new cars manufactured after June 2009 will now come with a three-years warranty. Finally, if customers buy a new Volvo before December 31 for registration before January 31, 2010, they will get a free specification upgrade.

"Volvo has always offered a value for money alternative in the Irish premium car market. We know from the experience with flexifuels that outstanding value is still attractive even in these more difficult economic times," says Adrian Yeates, sales and marketing manager for Volvo Car Ireland.

Servicing and maintenance cost is an important part of the car purchase decision and that is never truer than at the moment. To support Volvo customers, Volvo Car Ireland has announced that with effect from model year 10 ( cars manufactured after June 2009 ), all Volvo cars first registered in the Republic of Ireland will benefit from a three-year/100,000km warranty. The standard international warranty is two years.

Cost of ownership is made up of many factors, but the initial purchase price is key. Volvo Car Ireland today announces substantial price reductions across the Volvo C30, S80, V70 and XC90 ranges. The Volvo C30 1.6 is now selling for €23,820 - a saving of €2,240; Volvo S80 1.6D is selling at €34,500, saving €2,750; Volvo V70 1.6D is selling at €37,220, saving €2,750; Volvo XC90 D5 AWD 7-seats is now €58,660, a saving of €11,000.

Volvo Ireland says when customers factor in the higher specification on its cars compared to its premium competitors, the value is outstanding. It quotes the example of the Volvo C30 - it has electronic climate control and DSTC as standard, not to mention the three-years/ 100,000km warranty. If customers choose the 1.6D start/ stop variant it produces 99g/km of CO2 (which means fuel consumption of just 3.8L/ 100km ).

If your need is luxurious cruising then the standard specification on the €40,230 Volvo S80 2.0D SE executive saloon includes full leather seating and a power driver’s seat in addition to all the usual things you would expect from a Volvo.

The archetypal large estate is the Volvo V70 which has just got even better value by €3,750 for the 2.0 litre and larger engines and €2,750 on the new and very frugal 1.6D. Sipping just 4.9 L of diesel per 100km, but winning plaudits around Europe for its smooth and torquey engine, the V70 is the right car for modern active families.

However if seven seats is what you need, then the Volvo XC90 just became a whole lot easier on the pocket with a whopping €11,000 price reduction across the range. The XC90 has always been recognised as one of the very best seven seater family vehicles both here in Ireland and throughout the world and with a price now starting below €59,000 it represent seriously good value as well.

"We are determined to ensure 2010 kicks off as we all want, as the start of the economic recovery. As such not only have Volvo introduced significant price cuts, but right now customers can benefit from free specification upgrades," added Adrian Yeates.

More than 90 per cent of Volvo customers currently opt for either the SE or R-Design specification, but while stocks last, if customers buy before December 31, 2009 for registration in January 2010, they will benefit from a free upgrade to either the SE or R-Design, worth up to €4,000. The value of upgrade depends on model and specification chosen and it excludes R-Design on XC90.
