TODAY FM DJ Donal Dineen has unveiled plans to broadcast an innovative month long festival of new Irish music in November and he’s coming to Galway to give us a taste of FreshAir.
FreshAir will broadcast new Irish music on Donal’s Small Hours show each night, and bring a series of live gigs to Cork, Limerick, Galway, and Dublin.
The Galway show takes place on Sunday November 22 at 8pm in the Róisín Dubh. It will be hosted by Dineen with special artist-in-residence Katie Kim and some special guests. The Róisín will be transformed by Donal’s live visuals to give a multi-sensory experience of pictures and sound.
Katie Kim, formerly of Dae-Kim, released her debut album Twelve earlier this year on CD (it came out on vinyl in 2008 ). The Irish Times called it a “slow-burner, all weird turns and fuzzy twists...tougher and grittier in a Mazzy Star rocking out with Cat Power kind of way”.
Tickets are available from the Róisín Dubh and Zhivago.
