On Thursday November 19, Gaelscoil Riada brings the hugely popular Who wants to be a Thousandaire to The Raheen Woods Hotel, Athenry. The show has attracted large audiences over the past seven years, and is fast becoming the most popular source of fund-raising for schools and clubs. Contestants are drawn from ticket sales with each contestant playing for €1,000. The show is fully computerised with 50/50, ask the audience, and a video linked phone a friend. The questions and four possible answers are displayed on two 8ft x 6ft screens, one at each side of the stage.
The show is being run by Gaelscoil Riada to assist in fundraising for the school.
Gaelscoil Riada opened its doors in September 2008 with 34 children and two teachers, and since grown to an enrolment of 117, with a staff of eight. The school exists in temporary accommodation on the grounds of Athenry Community Council in Raheen, and the fundraiser will go towards the future investment in accommodation and resources for the school.
Tickets for Who wants to be a Thousandaire are available from any member of the fundraising committee or at the door on the night.
There is also digital advertising space available for the show, for more information contact John Cloonan 087 6769820 or Lorraine Byrne 086 1901964.
