Launch of local grow your own group

Grow it Yourself Ireland (GIY ) is the brainchild of Michael Kelly.

Its objective is to get people who are interested in growing fruit and vegetables together on a regular basis to talk, learn from each other, and exchange tips, produce and stories.

The meetings are free and open to people of all levels – from those who grow a few herbs in a window box to those who are completely self-sufficient.

The group needs a mix of interests, abilities, and experience to make it a success.

This is a volunteer led initiative and one of the items to be covered at the end of the first meeting is to set up a steering group to drive future meetings.

The Oranmore group is having its first meeting in Oranmore Library on Thursday November 5 from 6.30pm to 8pm, for more information contact [email protected]

The Spiddal group will meet in Spiddal Library on Wednesday November 25 from 7.30p, to 9pm, for more information email [email protected]
