Register for free cervical check

Last year Cervical Check, part of the National Cancer Screening Service, was launched. This programme entitles all women between the ages of 25 and 60 to a free smear test every three to five years

However each woman needs a letter of invitation from Cervical Check before having a free smear test. Women can register for this by logging on to www.cervicalcheck.ie calling 1800 45 45 55, or filling in a freepost form available at Galway Family Planning Clinic. A PPS/PRSI number is needed.

The simple test, which can help prevent cancer of the neck of the womb (cervix ), can be carried out by any doctor or nurse who is registered with Cervical Check. All doctors and nurses at The Galway Family Planning Clinic are registered with the programme.
