Throughout the decades many famous men have proudly worn a moustache - Salvador Dali, Tom Selleck, Frank Zappa, Friedrich Nietzsche, Mark Twain, and ahem, Adolf Hitler.
Now Galway men have a chance to join this elite club by taking part in Movember - where you grow a moustache during November and help raise funds and awareness about men’s health and prostate cancer.
At the start of Movember guys register with a clean-shaven face. The Movember participants, known as Mo Bros, have the remainder of the month to grow and groom their Mo, raising money along the way to benefit men's health.
At the end of Movember a Gala Party for Mo Bros is held and prizes are award in different categories (Best Mo, Lame Mo, Mr Movember, etc )
Now in its second year in Ireland, Movember is in aid of Action Prostate Cancer (an initiative of the Irish Cancer Society ) and last year’s event raised more than €370,000 in Ireland. For more information go to www.movember.com
