Visit Santa’s Castle and help Galway Simon Community

Athenry’s Dunsandle Castle will have some very special guests staying this winter. Santa and Mrs Claus, along with the elves will be making the County Galway medieval castle their home in preparation for Christmas. Bookings have now opened, and a proportion of all admissions will go to Galway Simon Community.

Eileen Cameron, manager of Dunsandle Castle stated, “We are delighted to be able to transform the castle into a winter wonderland for all families to enjoy. It will be a beautiful setting at Christmas time, and Santa and his elves will be there to welcome all the children with gifts, games, and lots of fun.”

Festivities will commence with a torchlight procession through the woods. Then a warm welcome from Mrs Claus in her kitchen will be followed by storytelling, songs, and crafts. The courtyard of Dunsandle Castle will be transformed into a Christmas market with food and craft stalls offering a unique range of handmade items.

Each child can have a chat with Santa Claus to request his/her Christmas wishes and receive a gift. A professional photographer will also be on site to record this precious moment.

Welcoming this fundraising initiative, Barry McCann of Galway Simon Community said, “We are extremely grateful to Eileen and everyone involved in Dunsandle Castle. The Christmas period is by far the busiest time for our services and in order for us to continue to provide the quality care and services, we heavily rely on donations and local fundraising.”
