Rape Crisis threat case adjourned

A case in which a man called the Galway Rape Crisis Centre and threatened staff has been adjourned until November.

Padraig Conroy, with an address at Lehenagh, Cashel, Galway, was summoned to appear at Galway District Court for the alleged offence of persistently using a phone to cause annoyance, inconvenience, or needless anxiety to another, under Section 13(1 ) of the Post Office Act, on dates between October 25, 2007, and January 1, 2008, at Galway Rape Crisis Centre.

Inspector Mick Coppinger told the court that the defendant rang the counselling services of the Rape Crisis Centre and threatened the staff. He said that Conroy had been looking to see someone in particular.

Judge Mary Fahy accepted jurisdiction on the matter and adjourned the case to November 10, 2008.
