New E-Class coupe arrives at Cunningham Higgins

Mercedes-Benz main dealer Joe Higgins from Cunningham Higgins, Ballybrit, is pictured here with the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupé which has just been launched on the Irish market.

The new coupé range consists of two diesel and three direct-injection petrol engines. First to arrive here is the E250 CDI version priced at €47,700 ex works.

Substantially longer and wider, with more interior roominess and a greater boot capacity than the CLK model it replaces, the new E-Class coupé is one of the cleanest and most economical vehicles in its class. It has fuel consumption of 5.6 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres in manual version (equal to 50 miles per gallon ) and CO2 emissions from 138g/km, which puts it within the Band B category with annual road tax of €156.

The new coupé is equipped with all of the features found in the new E-Class. Its safety systems include a drowsiness alert which warns the driver when it is time to take a coffee break, coupled with a distance control and braking mechanism that reduces the risk of rear-end collisions. An occupant protection package includes the full range of driver and passengers airbags.

Some other features include a suspension that adjusts automatically while allowing the driver to choose different set-ups at the touch of a button and a light system with adaptive high beam that automatically dips the headlights in the face of oncoming traffic.
